    Course description :
    The main aim of this course is to give students a good understanding of basics in adapted physical acativity and health.
    Target Audience (Who is it for?)   :
    First-year undergraduate students ( Bachelor of science).
    Class flow :
    The students will learn the basic concept and specialized terminology.
    Prerequisites :
    There are no prerequisites for this course.

  • Introduction

    Regular physical activity contributes to both maintaining and improving health. Being physically active can improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, Physical activity produces strong muscles, tendons and ligaments strengthen your muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments, and improve your ability to do everyday activities.


    Adults who have less sedentary behaviour and do any amount of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity gain some health benefits. Only a few lifestyle choices have as large an impact on your health as physical activity.


    Everyone can experience the health benefits of physical activity – age, abilities, ethnicity, shape, or size do not matter (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

    • Risks of Physical activity

      Two primary risks of physical activity that have been extensively studied are musculoskeletal injury and sudden cardiac death. Other, less-common health risks include arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death, postactivity myocardial infarction, infection, rhabdomyolysis, broncho-constriction, and dehydration.
