  Lecture Description:
  
  This lecture is the basis of the future courses of literature that the student will be exposed to throughout his/her study of this language in the "English Department" . It will acquaint him / her with “drama” as one of the three main literary genres . Thus , a considerable number of dramatic texts is chosen to do so.
  
  Lecture Objectives:
  
  •By the end of the lecture, the student will be able to know the basic characteristics /elements of drama.
  
  • The student will learn also how to approach a text of drama.
  
  • Performing a formal analysis is the fundamental outcome of the lecture.

This lecture aims to introduce first year students in the department of English to the basics of one of
the earliest literary genres that is “poetry”.

Lecture Objectives:

By the end of the lecture, the student will get basic knowledge about the genre known as poetry (main elements, different aspects…).
The student will also learn how to conduct a simple analysis of any poem.
Most importantly, this genre will boost a sense of appreciation of literature in general in the students taking into consideration the powerful sway of poetry.
