Objectives
Through this course, students are expected to think critically about textbooks. They are expected to evaluate textbooks and adopt instructional materials to the needs of students with different levels and backgrounds.
Content
The course consists of five lectures in addition to two assignments
Lecture one : the textbook
Lecture two : authentic materials
Lecture three : textbook design
Lecture four : textbook evaluation
Lecture five : textbook adaptation
Assignment 1; student are supposed to select an authentic material to use it as a language teaching material by designing relevant tasks.
Assignment 2:: using Skierso (1991) , Cuningsworth (1995), and Sheldon (1998) evaluation checklists, students adapt their own evaluation checklist to evaluate a textbook of their choice
