Course Design in ESP
1. Course Description
ESP module for the second semester focuses on ESP course Design.The present course intended to serve as exploration to ESP It presents the different steps and stages of course design. The present course covers the approaches of course design,emphasizes the importance of needs analysis and highlights the syllabus types.It also discusses the issue of materials selction and evaluation and tackles the issue of evaluation.
2. Target Population
This course is designed for Master one students of English.
3. Prerequisites
To enrol in this course learners should have gained founadation knowldge about ESP including following points:
- Definition and characteristics of ESP.
-Similarities and differences between ESP and GE.
- Types of ESP.
4. Objectives
By the end of this course students should be able to :
- Identify and interpret the learners' needs.
-Design ESP courses that meets the students' needs.
5.Evalauation
Due to the nature of the module and the lectures presented, students will be evaluated through summative assessment, in particular final exams.
