Teaching CEO for First Year Students

Oral communication includes both Listening and Speaking. First, Listening is based mostly on listening to audio tracks of diverse topics with multiple activities that focus primarily on comprehension and dictation. Second, Speaking rests on interactive techniques that include interviews, discussions, role-play, problem-solving activities, simulations, readings (short stories, poems …), dialogues (interpersonal and transactional), picture description … Thus, students will be asked to retell stories which they have just heard, invent a story, conduct a survey of their classmates on topics/questions proposed by the teacher, guessing games, show and tell, learning idioms, etc. In a nutshell, Speaking is based on imaginative and creative activities/topics to enable students to practice the language while breaking the ice of fear and shyness.
