Literary theories help us to understand the important role culture, history and the nature of language play in the way readers of literary texts produce "meaning". Literary theory is very much involved with questions such as: what is literature and what are its social and aesthetic effects ? What is an author? What is a reader?..... So, this course will deal with some literary theories that will answer these questions.
